Cloud based services are becoming vital for business growth and customer management with technology and automation taking over the business environment. Choosing the right CRM system for your business can be difficult and overwhelming. Narrowing your options to the two most powerful CRM systems can make your choice a little easier. Both Salesforce and Dynamics are competing closely by taking the basic core CRM functions and expanding the capabilities beyond other CRM competitors.

Both software systems operate similarly with important differences that makes each unique. The application of each system is the largest determinant of which one fits the best for each business environment. There are four major categories to diagnose each software by system and price, platform, integrations, and features.

1) System and Price

Salesforce primary system, Sales Cloud leverages multi-channel relationships for business growth. Aligning different departments in the company with the most up to date information on the sales process for an all in one platform. Service Cloud is a customer service and case management software. Sales Cloud empowers customers by empowering managers through advanced communication and personal connection. Salesforce uses an individual model or bundling system which incurs a larger startup cost for the program to be initiated. This lump sum cost optimizes the program for the most efficient AI system solutions.

Microsoft Dynamic CRM and ERP online professional system assumes the integration of sales and service for efficient optimization. Dynamics has a high powered real time opportunity connectivity through different business departments. Dynamics focuses on streamlining opportunity all the way to delivery of every product, keeping managers and employees up to date through every step of the business cycle. Microsoft Dynamics is priced on the basic system with the ability to add on different applications and platforms to make the system more powerful. This add on structure allows the customer to pick and choose the applications they want to pay for and use, saving time and money.

2) Platform

The Salesforce Lightning, Einstein and Thunder platforms are completely built on the cloud to have the most secure and scalable applications. With drag and drop technology, it makes customization and innovation quicker easier and more powerful than other cloud based CRM platforms. Across all platforms, Salesforce has high security authentication for who can view, edit, create or delete data controls. With the cloud based platform and integration it makes accessibility simple and easy from the web browser. The setup makes it challenging if the customer wants to own the application and software license outright, as Salesforce has all ownership of the applications and technology.

Microsoft Dynamics is fully cloud based and has a flexible implementation software with an easy set up system. Integration from clients to partners is made simple through configuration of data, development and security. On-premise management makes customer service efficient and accurate for troubleshooting. Microsoft Dynamics is privately hosted on Microsoft servers, making them primarily responsible for the protection and maintenance of each customers software infrastructure.

3) Integrations

Salesforce gives customers access to over 2,600 applications making it the #1 enterprise app store of all online based application software. Salesforce AppExchange is the largest and most powerful for integrating and growing within the customers business or selling applications to other customers.

Connectivity of service partners to gives customers quick and on time service to local developers to build custom solutions. Having local business partners gives a customers better access to get solutions anytime and anywhere.

Microsoft requires the customer to build the apps they need where Salesforce has apps already built for use. Microsoft is still growing their app database to compete on having a more comprehensive application marketplace. Dynamics integrates with Office 365 to make ease of use and better performance for current Microsoft users. Integration of application and other business tools cooperate with the dynamics platform for the best functionality.

4) Features

Salesforce has some very important features that Dynamics can’t compete with that play a major role in deciding which system makes sense for each customer. Sales performance management provides tools for creating a holistic view of individual and team performance that managers can use to plan and optimize sales resources and processes. Salesforce partner management gives you a guided setup and support along the way. Salesforce also has built in data governance tools that protect customer data through its life cycle to ensure that data doesn’t end up in the wrong hands.

Microsoft has made huge improvements in 2015 to compete and grow in the market. Sentiment analysis, social listening, inclusion of news sources, mobile and offline access all were added or enhanced for a better and more powerful CRM tool for customers. Microsoft is making large improvements to performance capabilities for utilizing different needs of customers. The bridge of sales and marketing gives each a separate visibility and editing of the sales collaboration panel. Microsoft has excelled at integrating different departments for fluid communication and minimizing wrinkles in the sales process for customers.

Decision

When deciding which CRM system makes the most sense there must be an analysis of what aspects your business needs for the most success. What systems are already implemented? What is the company’s budget for a CRM system to be implemented and operated? What features are the most valuable? Time allocation for managing and developing the most effective system?

Each system has a similar base product and diverges at what different customers look for in performance capabilities. CRM development is difficult and optimizing the software for the best results should be managed by professionals.
